Highland Road in 1924 and today

Highlands Road

Looking down Highlands Road towards Weston Road. The view is little changed today except that all but one of the white cottages have now gone. The one remaining was the local Post Office until this was closed down in 2003. It is now a bakery business.

The message reads:-
Jack how would you like to wear these clogs for shoes and on the toe there is nailed a piece of copper. If you came to a stream you could take them off and let them float down the stream for a boat but these children are awful dirty and a great many live around the docks.
