As can be seen, the final length of the church at Norton was long compared with those of other Priory churches. This may have been due to the later expansions at both ends of the church?.
Priories were never built to house the same number of people as Abbeys, hence the smaller length churches at Augustinian Priories compared with those of most Abbeys. Many present day Cathedrals in
English cities were once Abbeys.
