The Parish Church of All Saints, Runcorn

Parish Church, Runcorn

The postcard view of the Parish Church of "All Saints" seems to be a painting. The appearance of Widnes on the opposite bank of the Mersey looks too nice and styalised, and there are no smoking factory chimneys!. The church was rebuilt in 1852 and was designed by Salvin. It replaced an earlier medieval church on the same site, also possibly the site of Runcorn Priory (1115 A.D.) which moved to Norton (1134 A.D.). The gravestones have been flattened now and the churchyard landscaped.
