Runcorn docks

This picture shows the docks as they were in the early part of the 20th. C. Large numbers of schooners were a regular sight. Most operated around the coast, bringing china-clay and flint for the potteries and taking coal and chemicals out on the return trip. Some even crossed the Atlantic, although they were only about 1000 ton. ships
