Transporter Bridge, 1915

Runcorn/Widnes Transporter bridge

The first bridge between Runcorn and Widnes which allowed carts etc. to cross the Mersey without getting wet.

This view is from the north-east side of the bridge taken from Widnes with Runcorn on the opposite bank. Was this picture taken with a bit of fog about? Says it crossed the Mersey in 3 mins.
